The Flap diary (D1020) is an A5 size diary with a cover in thermal silk PU leather, and the flap is what gives it its shape. A wide, envelope-style flap folds over from the right side across the front of the cover, ending in a rounded point, and it closes with a magnetic flap lock. The front shows no strap or button, so the flap lies flat and smooth against the cover when the diary is shut.
The cover is a light grey-blue with a soft, cloudy, mottled look, and the tone shifts slightly across the surface, which gives the plain color some depth. The silk finish is smooth, with a faint sheen instead of a hard gloss, and the corners are softly rounded.
The decoration is pressed into the cover instead of printed on it. The year 2027 sits at the top left in embossed lettering, with a thin ruled line beneath it. Down the left side of the front, an ornamental scroll and floral motif is embossed in the same tone as the cover, so it shows as raised texture and not as added color. The flap itself is left completely plain, which keeps the decoration on the left side and the closure on the right side clearly separate.
